Best Beaches for Bonfires in Orange County

One of our favorite things to do as the summer comes to a close is to take our kids to one of our local beaches to roast marshmallows in a fire pit and eat s’mores while watching the sunset over the crystalline ocean waters.

Families are encouraged to come early to snag one of these sought after fire pits. Curious about where to find them? We have everything to you need to know on where to find Orange County beaches with fire pits for your next beach bonfire.

Beaches on Orange County

Aliso Creek Beach
31131 S Pacific Coast Highway
Laguna Beach, CA 92651

This beach is one of our favorites to have a bonfire because the fire pits are so close to the parking spots. There is also clean bathrooms, a lifeguard, and a playground for the kids to play. If you want to get one of these fire pits, I recommend coming before the sun rises and camp out until your family is ready to make their way down to the beach.

Bolsa Chica State Beach

Huntington Beach, CA 92649

When most OC locals think of the best place for a beach bonfire, it is usually Huntington Beach. The city is home to the largest amount of fire pits in Orange County at the three different beach locations. Our favorite way to spend an evening by a Huntington Beach fire pit is by reserving one at Sea Legs at the Beach. At Sea Legs, you can reserve a fire pit and sit in comfortable chairs while enjoying food and drink from the premier restaurant. All other Huntington Beach fire pits are first-come.

Newport Beach

Corona del Mar State Beach
West Jetty View Beach
Balboa Pier Beach
Newport Municipal Beach

Another popular place to bring your family for a bonfire is in Newport Beach. The city has fewer fire pits than Huntington Beach so I recommend coming extra early to snag one of these spots. A favorite of locals is Corona del Mar State Beach. However, kids can spend the afternoon at the fun zone when having a bonfire at the Balboa Pier Beach.

Dana Point

Doheny State Beach

Capistrano Beach

Dana Point, CA 92624

During the summer and early fall, most of the Doheny State Beach fire pits are claimed early in the morning by those who are camping. If you want to go camping with a bonfire, this is the place to go. For those families who are not camping, it is easier to get one of the few bonfires at Capistrano Beach.

San Clemente is a popular place for South Orange County families to have a bonfire. The fire pits are limited on these beaches making it a more intimate family experience. Come early and bring your surfboard when planning a bonfire at San Onofre State Beach.
